The Trails/YIPS! Crew (YIPS! = Yachats Invasive Plant Squad) normally meets on the first and third Saturdays of every month for two hours of work, weather permitting. Work on the first Saturday normally focuses mainly on trail* maintenance, repair and upgrades. On the third Saturday the emphasis is more on removing invasive weeds**. However we try always to accommodate everyone's interests and abilities by planning a variety of tasks on every work day. We normally meet at the north end of the Commons at about 9:25 am for orientation and instructions, and disperse from there. The actual starting times may vary between 9:30 and 10:00 am, but will always be specified in the e-mail announcement of the work session.

COVID-19: During the height of the Covid pandemic our work sessions were suspended for a while. When we restarted, our activities were carefully designed and controlled in order to ensure the health and safety of our volunteers and compliance with all Covid-19-related regulations and guidelines. We all wore masks and maintained social distancing when we assembled prior to getting our work assignments. Work activities were limited those that could be done without having people in close proximity to each other. Our work sessions and apres work sessions at the Drift Inn are back to normal, as of this writing (April 2022).

Details of the planned activities are sent out by e-mail a few days ahead of time. If you would like to get on the mailing list, contact Loren Dickinson. After work we adjourn to the Drift Inn for complimentary drinks and snacks.

* We work on the Ya Xaik trail, the Amanda trail, the Prospect trail, the Gerdemann public trail, and the trail system in the Commons Wetland Park.
** YIPS! work includes all trails, the Whale Tail Park, the Prospect Garden and the Commons Wetland Park.

Earth Day, April 22. Earth Day 2022 is focused on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone - governments, citizens, and businesses - to do their part.

National Trails Day. NTD is scheduled for Saturday June 4th, 2022. We will update this website with news of any planned activities for that day.

The annual 804 Trail Ivy Pull for 2019 was held on Saturday, August 24.  Over 40 people showed up at the Overleaf Lodge, enjoying perfect weather as we pulled a mountain of ivy. The total weight was 1500 pounds - yet another great haul, helping to beautify the 804 Trail. And then we had a wonderful BBQ over at the Fireside. As always, Drew Roslund was a gracious and generous host - there were free spa passes for all, plus a couple of valuable spa gift certificates. Thank you Drew and the Overleaf/Fireside staff who helped you. The 2020 and 2021 versions of this event were cancelled on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.

La De Da parade, held on July 4. The La De Da parade has been scheduled for 2022 after being cancelled the previous two years. Trails Crew plans to be in the parade.

Trails Crew Picnic. After being cancelled for the last two years, this event is now scheduled for July 30th, 2022.
