The Ocean View Drive Walkway Project

The Yachats Trails Team is actively promoting and assisting with this project, which aims to provide a walkway along Ocean View Drive from Highway 101 to about Beach Street, safely separated from vehicular traffic. If you want to follow developments, you should bookmark this page which we will update from time to time.

At this writing in mid-2022, the detailed design of the walkway is still to be finalized. However, team prefers a a boardwalk built largely with composite materials. While composites are more expensive - the total cost of the project could run close to $ 1,000,000 - they have a greater life expectancy, lower maintenance and less environmental impact than other options.

And here is an architect's rendering of what it might look like. Done by Yachats' very own Loren Dickinson. You will need to provide your own ice creams!

Disclaimer: The final details of the walkway, and particularly the area in the foreground of the picture, are still to be worked out. Also, some of the birds may have moved from the positions shown. The finished project may look significantly different from Loren's depiction.
